When it comes to sports-cars, Audi is a modern day leader in design and performance. The recently unveiled Audi R8 is an example of creative engineering and attention to detail. This car is capable of 0-60 in 4.4 seconds produced by a 4.2 liter V8 engine at 420hp (the V10 model generates 525hp). Starting at $114,200, this car isn’t for everyone, which explains why Audi managed to report a %5 sales increase for 2008, a job well done considering other auto manufacturers are struggling to break even. The price tag is high and gladly so, because at an average 15mph fuel consumption rate we would all need extremely deep pockets to rocket trips to the grocery store.

Zeta is a new fireplace designed by australian architect John Dimopoulos for EcoSmart Fire. It’s rather amazing and portable. Yes, that’s right this fireplace requires no flue or gas connection.

“Like other models in the Designer Range, the Zeta is fuelled by denatured ethanol, an environmentally friendly, renewable energy. ”

The construction of the fireplace is made from plywood and wrapped in aluminum and leather, with glass on the sides. This is a real unique piece of elegant modern design that I would like to incorporate into any project.

Welcome to 2009

On this first working day of 2009 I’d like to wish everyone a New Year with high hopes of continued progress and health. Aside from being on blog-vacation since the election, I have started writing some interesting perspectives on design that will make it’s way here very shorty. Also I am proud to say several of the residential projects I worked on last year are near completion and already receiving positive feedback from the clients. Also in the works are several prototypical residential concepts that have lived in my head for a long time and now are being draw with GREEN knowledge and the potential of being pre-fabricated.

I sense 2009 to be a big year for innovation and contribution from the design community and look forward to being a part of it.
